Background: Fear of missing out (FoMO) is adevelopmental concern among university students that falls within the scope of higher education counseling, as it is linked to anxiety, disrupted study routines, and lower psychological well-being that counselors are expected to address.Purpose: This study aimed to examine the relationship and influence of mindfulness on FoMO among undergraduate students at Universitas Ma'arif Lampung.
Methods: A quantitative correlational-regression design was employed with 85 students selected through total sampling. Data were collected using the Indonesian-adapted Mindful Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS) and FoMO Scale, and analyzed using Spearman correlation and simple linear regression.
Results: There was a significant negative relationship between mindfulness and FoMO (r = -0.428; p < 0.001), with mindfulness significantly predicting lower FoMO scores (β = -0.355; F = 11.951; p = 0.001) and accounting for 12.6% of FoMO variance (R² = 0.126).
Conclusion:These findings support the integrationof mindfulness-based approaches into university counseling and guidance services, and provide counselors with an empirical basis for designing preventive interventions against the adverse psychological effects of social media use.
